Cheek check: Is your glow on?

Blush can do so much more than just add color. The pros know it can add a glow that can show off your cheekbones, leave you looking naturally vibrant and even turn back the clock—the trick is all in the technique. Follow these expert tips to blush beautifully.

Before you begin, create your perfect canvas with foundation, concealer and powder. For a pro glow, try Expert Wear Blush or Expert Wear Bronzer. Now reach for your blush brush.

  • Bring out your bone structure: Obvious contouring is outdated, but there’s a new way to use blush to enhance cheekbones like never before. Use a nude blush tone underneath your cheekbone. Start near your ear and stop about an inch and a half before your mouth. Sweep on the same color just under your jawline. Next, dust a small amount of your favorite blush color on the apples of your cheeks.

  • Look naturally flushed: After you exercise, your face comes alive with color. Use that as the basis for your most natural blush. To get glowing, first smile to locate the apples of your cheeks. Then, apply blush on the apples of your cheeks with outward strokes towards your ears. Lightly sweep the blush brush down the center of your nose.

  • Look more youthful: Aim higher for a younger look. Sweep on your blush just under the outer corner of your eyebrows and down to the apples of your cheeks in a “C” curve. Then layer a slightly brighter shade of blush over the apples of your cheeks for a fresh, final highlight.
